Celeste, Texas - 17 May 1932! A boy is born in Wolfe City, Texas. Troyce Len Woodruff, the son of William Ira and Louvenia Ellen McKay Woodruff who live on the Colter Farm, North of the Aberfoyle store. 1 mile.

Troyce attends school at Aberfoyle country school 1 year. Ira buys farm 1/2 way between Aberfoyle and South Sulfur in 1938 and the family moves. Troyce attends school at Pleasant Ridge (Chigger Ridge) for 6 years. He goes to school in Wolfe City 1946/1947. Ira dies in a car accident in 1939, leaving Louvenia with 8 children. Troyce quits school in 1947 to work his mother's farm. In 1948 at age 16 he goes to Dallas to work. Troyce gets a job delivering telegrams, Western Union. He has a walking route for two months, then gets a motorcycle route. He delivers all over Dallas on a Cushman motor scooter for one year and then joined the military, age 17, 1949.

Four years U.S. Army, seventeen years US. Air Force. While in the military Troyce spent two years in England, one year in Korea, three years in Hawaii, one year in Alaska, three years in Germany, and one year in Vietnam. The rest of his service years were spent stateside on the mainland. l-le retired in 1979 after serving our country for twenty-one years. After retiring, he worked for GTE and Verizon for twenty years as the only telephone man serving the Leonard and Trenton area.

Troyce married Willie Mae Harrell, fifth day of March 1954. They had four children. Three sons and a girl. Troyce (Kinky), Ira (Buddy), Robert (Bobby) and Berlinda. Willie and the children were able join him for the three years spent in Hawaii and the three years spent in Germany. After twenty years working for the telephone company, Troyce retired 1990, and raised cattle, the rest of his life. He has five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Danny, Ashley; Michelle; Jessica, Travis; Trudy, Danny; Ethan, Priscilla; Matt, Grace; Andrew Jr., Kasi, Great-grandchildren: Ellis, Olianna, Keonna, Tucker, Tate, Troyce, Liam, Landon, Wade and another great-grandchild on the way.

All three sons (Troyce, lra and Robert) preceded him in death as well as two grand daughters (Michelle and Ashley).

Troyce enjoyed playing dominos, cards and riding four wheelers. He and little Troyce rode many miles on their Hondas. Troyce does not consider himself a Hero but he did receive the Air Force commendation medal for the time he spent in Vietnam (1968). He was exposed to agent orange on many occasions while serving in Vietnam! This has caused many medical problems in later years. When he died Troyce was being compensated by the VA, as a 100% service connected combat related veteran.

Troyce passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home in Celeste, Texas.

A visitation will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at RW Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas. The Funeral service will start at 11:00AM. Burial to follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Texas.
