Patricia Guin McCasland Knight-Shipman
Patricia Guin McCasland Knight-Shipman, age 77, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2020 in her home surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 21, 1942 in Bonham, Texas to Homer and Sylvia McCasland. She married James Shipman on June 5, 2011. Pat was a member of First Christian Church of Lone Oak.
Pat's diverse work history included management positions, Weight Watchers counselor, entrepreneur, seamstress, and interior decorator.
Her love of beauty influenced her decorating career and made her home, as well as clients' homes, welcoming havens for family and friends. Pat's most recent creative projects were shadow boxes with meaningful jewelry designed specifically for each recipient. She was determined to, and did complete, the final shadow box for a loved family member shortly before her passing.
Pat's natural warmth and hospitality made her home a gathering place for many, many planned and unplanned get-togethers. She and husband, James, hosted weekly dinner parties with beautiful table settings and good conversation making guests always feel welcome and eagerly anticipate each gathering.
Pat enjoyed a long-time membership with "Bunco Gals" whose members provided many meals the last weeks of her life. Pat's love and hospitality included hosting high school reunions from her Caddo Mills graduating class of 1960. In the past, Pat hosted several luncheons for older widows and casual acquaintances to encourage and brighten their lives.
Giving didn't stop with personal relationships. Pat was a long-time volunteer for the Follies, working on costumes and Angel Party Committees helping wherever she was needed. Pat was also a volunteer with the Greenville Entertainment Series and sold memberships for many years.
Pat's kindness, loving spirit, caring heart, and Christian beliefs were a positive influence on all who knew her. If there was a need, whether physical or emotional, Pat was always there to help and encourage. Pat's love and compassion are her legacy, and will remain in the hearts of her loved ones and all whom she touched long after her passing.
She is survived by her husband, James Shipman; brother Lenis Derrell McCasland and wife Judy; daughter Melissa Gae Knight and her beloved Steve Plaugher; son Juddson Paul Knight and wife Kelley; daughter Jocelyn Pade Knight Fitzgerald and husband Riley; grandchildren Foster Sheffield and wife Sharon, Faith Sheffield, Sarah Bearce, Morgan Benton and husband Garland, Amy Doyle, Cole Knight and wife Lindy, David Weaks, Kolton Fitzgerald, Dillon Fitzgerald, Marley Knight, Lane Fitzgerald, Ricky Cope; numerous great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.

Pat was always my go-to person for furniture. With her million dollar smile, she was the epitome of customer service. She will definitely be missed.
