Greenville - Laquita Joy Blankenship, 87, of Greenville, Texas passed away on April 18, 2026 at Lexington Medical Lodge in Farmersville.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, with Rev. Jay Sikes and Rev. Jason Rolen officiating. Burial will follow at Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.


Joy was born July 21, 1938 in Farmersville, Texas to B.K. and Lela Grace Petty Chapman. She married Billy Dewayne Blankenship on March 7, 1956 in Oklahoma.


She worked as a teacher's aide and was a member of the Floyd Baptist Church.


Joy is survived by her son, Steve Blankenship and wife, Debbie; brothers, Lester Chapman, Johnny Chapman; grandchildren, Suzette Smith, Billy Blankenship, Cody Blankenship, Chad Blankenship, Troy Blankenship; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dale Blankenship; grandson, Cody and great-granddaughter, Chasta.


Pallbearers will be Dakota Blankenship, Chad Blankenship, Troy Blankenship, Kadin Smith, Keith Chapman, James Blankenship and honorary pallbearers will include Billy Blankenship, Ryder Blankenship, Cooper Blankenship and Mason Smith.
