Funeral service for Joe Allen Waldrop, age 92, of Emory, will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Emory Baptist Church. Bro. Scott Lowery will conduct the service with David Johnson, eldest grandson, doing the eulogy.

Burial will follow the service in Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Mr. Waldrop died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

He was born in Rains County on December 16, 1926 to Joseph Bailey and Sarah Luretta Robinson Waldrop.

Mr. Waldrop married Katherine Bryant in Greenville on November 15, 1945. They were married for some 71 years.

Joe served his country during the end months of WWII

in the U.S. Navy. After discharge from the Navy, after the war, he rejoined and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was an employee of E-Systems for 30 years as an electrician in the aviation level. He was a member of Emory Baptist Church. Joe loved to fish, work in the yard, read and for the last several years work jigsaw puzzles.

Those serving as pallbearers will be: Joe Waldrop, II, Darryl Johnson, Jason Fenter, Jimi Hayward, Sherman Porter, Henry Porter, Joshua Carr, and Colton Sandlin.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Don McLeroy, Buddy Dunn,

Bill Gaston, Wesley Porter and Danny DuCharme.

Survivors include: son, Joe Allen Waldrop, II ( Dixie) of Boling, Texas; daughters, Virginia McLeroy (Don) of Emory; Donna Dunn (Buddy) of Yantis; Beverly Gaston (Bill) of Point; Rhonda Porter (Wesley) of Brenham; Elizabeth DuCharme (Danny) of Milliken, Colorado; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous other loving family and friends.

Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2017, sister, brother, numerous half brothers and sisters. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory.
