Midlothian, TX - Jimmy Earl Bonney, a devoted husband, beloved father, proud grandfather, and esteemed engineer, entered eternal rest on Saturday evening, December 6, 2025, at his home in Midlothian, Texas, at the age of 93.
Born on November 7, 1932, in Monahans, Texas, Jim was one of six sons born to the late William F. Bonney and Ora Mildred Bonney. He cherished his roots in Ranger, Texas, graduating from Ranger High School and later earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Business from Ranger Junior College. A lifelong learner, he also pursued night classes at TCU and proudly served his country for numerous weekends in the Army National Guard.
For four decades, Jim dedicated his considerable intellect to aerospace engineering, working as a Project Engineer at E-Systems, which later became Raytheon Technologies in Greenville. He was widely respected for his intelligent mind and vast knowledge, and he took genuine joy in mentoring and teaching his colleagues.
Jim's personal life was marked by his passions and deep family bonds. He was an avid enthusiast of model aviation, spending countless hours building and flying a vast collection of radio-controlled airplanes. His favorite annual tradition was deer hunting on the family lease in Ranger alongside his four brothers, nephews, and his daughter—a tradition that created indelible memories. In his community of Midlothian, he was an engaged citizen, completing the Citizen's Police Academy and serving as a former member of the Midlothian Water Board.
Jim's greatest source of joy in his later years was his grandchildren. He loved watching his grandson, Laurence, and son-in-law, Laurencio, perform in middle school and high school band parades and concerts. He also enjoyed memorable trips to Sanibel Island with his granddaughter, Athena, where they would comb the beaches for seashells.
A man of deep faith, Jim was a long-time, active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Georgia L. Bonney. His legacy continues through his three children: Dean J. Bonney of Thomas, WV; James J. Bonney and his wife Cynthia of Geneseo, NY; and his daughter, Monica B. Arroyo and her husband Laurencio of Midlothian, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laurence Arroyo of Dallas, Texas, and Athena Bonney of Richmond, VA.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, William F. Bonney, Sr. and Ora Mildred Bonney, and all five of his brothers: Doyle Dean Bonney, William Franklin Bonney, Jr., Marion Richard Bonney, Billy Medlen Bonney, and Col. Charles Edward Bonney. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Pete D. Lempesis and Walton I. Smart; sisters-in-law, Betty Bonney, Jean Bonney, Virginia Lempesis, and Connie Smart; and his nephew, Guinn Fain Hubbard. He is also survived by many loving sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
