James Edward Young Sr,, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Aug. 23,2017.

Jim was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Nashville, Tenn., to his parents, Edward L. and Lois (Eckler) Young. Jim married Marjorie Smith on March 12, 1956, in Durant, Okla.

Jim was a minister for Christian Church Disciples of Christ, retired after approximately 30 years. He also was a teacher in St. Louis County, Mo., at Eureka High School, from where retired after 30 years of service. Jim moved his family to Texas and taught at Caddo Mills High School for 18 years.

Jim's family members who are cherishing the memories of his life are his wife, Marjorie; daughter Cynthia Snelling; his sons, Lee Young and wife Ellen, James Edward Young Jr., and John Walter Young and wife Malisa Villarreal-Young; grandchildren Cody Snelling, Tristan Young and Adriana Young; great-grandchild Kendall Grace Snelling; a sister, Myrle Karr and husband Dale; nieces Kay Taggart and husband David and Jennifer Bowers and husband Burt; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. in the Goggans Funeral Home chapel, with visitation at 6 p.m. before service.
