SULPHUR SPRINGS — A funeral service for James W. Thompson III, 45, of Greenville will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, in the West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Bradley D. Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Seymore Cemetery with Eric Kelley, Lance Guthrie, Mike Simmons, Kolton Vandergriff, Bobby Thompson, Buddy Walters, Ryan Prather, Todd Charles and Landon Shearer serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 4, at the funeral home.

James and his beloved wife Niki Arlene McCoy Thompson were killed in a car accident in Euless on July 30. He and Niki married on Nov. 6, 2010, in Greenville.

James was born Dec. 21, 1970, in Greenville. James was a supervisor for L-3 in Greenville for nine years, and he was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman.

He is survived by his father, James Wilson Thompson Jr.; his mother, Margaret Price Toon and husband Brad of Cooper; daughters Caitlin Brown, Taylor Thompson and Cheyenne Thompson, all of Sulphur Springs; a son, Jeremy Thompson of Flint; stepdaughters Ashley Faulkner and husband Shawn and Lauryn Prather, both of Greenville; a previous stepdaughter, Samantha Weeks; stepson Ryan Prather of Dallas; sister Tami Brown of McKinney; stepbrothers Bradley Toon and wife Carrie of Georgia, Rodney Toon and wife Jorjanna of Midlothian, Ryan Toon and wife Rocio of Nederland, and Bud Toon of Cooper; grandchildren Addison Brown and Desiree Thompson; grandmother Mary Thompson of Coke; best friends Eric and Cassie Kelley; his beloved pet, "Jax"; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
