Harold J. Burks
Harold J. Burks of McKinney, Texas, passed away on Feb. 25, 2025 at the age of 88.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1936 to J. Lee Burks and Ola (Thorp) Burks in Dulaney, Texas.
After graduating from Farmersville High School, Harold started his career at Dallas Power & Light Company. This career was briefly interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1958, where he served in Augsburg, Germany. When he returned, he resumed his position with DP&L and later earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was very proud to eventually obtain his Texas Professional Engineering License.
Harold married Johnette Earle in 1968. As a devoted member of Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, Harold was known for his unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His generosity and mischievous sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of loving and knowing him.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife, Johnette. He is survived by his daughters, Kim Burks and Karen Ethridge (Russell); grandson, Matthew Ethridge; sisters, Janette Coffman and Betty Grimes (Joe); six nieces and nephews; two granddogs.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 3, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 N. Central Expressway, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, a recorded video will be available for viewing on Harold's obituary page. Following the service, a committal service was held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 333 County Road 557, Farmersville, Texas.
The family received friends during a visitation on Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
