Funeral services for James "Doug" Douglas Williams, age 76, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer, Texas, with Price Griggs, Brandon Jones, Kaleb Thompson, Collin Williams, Blake Holly and Keller Thompson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., before the funeral service, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Doug passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on March 31, 1943 in Quinlan, Texas, the son of Ray and Evah Butler Williams. He married Peggy Lou Friddle Williams on Dec. 2, 1982, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2019.
He is survived by sons, Dee Williams of Sulphur Springs, Gene Williams and wife Sherry of Fort Worth, Texas, and Steve Williams and wife Carolyn of Dike, Texas; daughters, Andrea Griggs and husband Mitch of Sulphur Springs, and Delann Thompson and husband Kenny of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sister, Wynell Quattlebaum of Greevnille, Texas; grandchildren, Price Griggs, Collin Williams, Sarah Jones and husband Brandon, Tara Holly and husband Blake, Kendel Thompson, Kaleb Thompson, Keller Thompson and Kit Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Brett and Elaine Jones.
In addition to his wife Peggy, he was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sarah Burns Williams; brother, Wayne Williams; and brother-in-law, Bill Quattlebaum.
