Dorothy Jean (Clark) Hess Obituary

Dorothy Jean (Clark) Hess, 88, passed away on May 20, 2021 in Greenville, Texas, where she was born on April 28, 1933 to Henry Jefferson and Suvada (Richards) Clark. She was the youngest of their 9 children.

Among many great things, Jean will be remembered for being a very active, tenacious, confident lady who had great compassion and love for others all around her.

From a young age, she helped her parents in the grocery store they owned and operated. This is where she acquired the great work ethic she maintained throughout her life.

Having completed high school a year early, she went to work as a skilled seamstress for Haggar Slacks Company in Greenville, Texas, staying for 35 years before retiring when the plant closed.

Soon after, she went to work as a floor manager for El Sombrero Restaurant in Greenville, Texas.

Even while working full time, Jean was even more dedicated and committed to her family. She was a caregiver to her elderly father, to many of her older siblings, and especially loved caring for her grandsons.

Her heart and compassion were so big that she and Carl also took in numerous rescue puppies over the years.

Jean leaves lasting and wonderful memories for her family and friends.

Jean is survived by daughter, Deborah Perry and husband Mike of Dallas; grandsons, Michael Perry and wife Tracy of Brownwood, Texas, Christopher Perry and wife Amy of Sherwood, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Bailey Perry, Madi Perry, Grant Perry; stepchildren, Carl Hess, Jr., Steven Hess, Cindy Walton, Carol Sue Nellenson; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Hess, and her (8) siblings.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving caregivers at Legend Health Care and Rehabilitation in Greenville.

Services for Jean will be held at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 2 PM, with Visitation immediately preceding at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, Texas. (Weather permitting)
