My first memories of my Aunt Melba was in the winter of 1941 / 1942. I remember a very pretty young woman in a pretty black dress walking in our front door with my Uncle Ralph W. Easterwood. I was only (or nearly) 4 years old and remember her so clearly. She was carrying a young baby boy and his name was Billy Ralph Easterwood. They had just come back from California (where Billy had been born that August). They were coming back home to Texas to live. From much of my early life Aunt Melba was like another Mom to me. She had been my fishing buddy, my domino partner and my Aunt who I always loved very much. There are so many stories to tell, but at this juncture I very surely wish comfort ...and peace to all of her loving family who loved her so much. She had an amazingly good and long life, and now rests in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ. God bless you Aunt Melba, and I'll see you later.Read more
