Greenville, Texas - Bobbie Jean Hawthorne was born August 14,1930 to John & Zora Martin in Lubbock, Texas and was raised in Cash, Texas on the family farm.
Ms. Bobbie, as everyone called her, lived a long life of 95 blessed years. She was a wonderful Christian woman, a loving mother and grandmother and a fabulous cook! Even in her nineties Ms. Bobbie had the sharpest wit! Her family always said nobody could outthink her and beat her on the quick comeback! She was an amazing woman!
She was a faithful member of Mineral Heights Baptist Church and was their oldest member. She attended services up until 6 days before she went to meet her Lord.
Ms. Bobbie retired from Lance for one year and returned back to work for another 23 years at Schlotzsky's, where she was affectionately known as "The Schlotzsky's Lady", or "The Sheriff " because of her cowboy hat she donned behind the counter.
She was married to James Ennis Hawthorne, and he preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by parents John & Zora Martin, brother James Martin, sisters Malvern Lynch & Mildred Macklin, son Tim Hawthorne and son-in-law Kenneth Sanders.
She is survived by her Son James Hawthorne (loving daughter-in-Law Sondra), and Granddaughter Cindy Hawthorne Sanders, that they raised.
Ms. Bobbie was blessed with a large family, and she is survived by grandchildren James Leon Hawthorne (Dee), Corbie Martinez (Luis), Lisa Roberts Kendrick and Dereck Garcia (Jay). Great-grandchildren Laura Hawthorne, Nicolas McDowell, Destinee Neil, Brien Martinez, Ashton Roberts, Isaac Maldonado (Aimee) and Alexis Maldonado (Bo). Bobbie also had 8 beautiful great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by Kenneth's sister and nephew, who became her family over the years, Shannon Sanders Reimer and Angel Strickland, her buddy, whom she loved dearly. Everyone loved Ms. Bobbie, and she had numerous friends and her church family who loved her.
Memorial Service Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11 AM. Mineral Heights Baptist Church located at 3201 Robin Rd. in Greenville, TX 75402.
