Roy Kenneth Hogge, 88, of Greenville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jan. 23, 2017. He was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Parker, to DeWitt and Doris Chaddick Hogge.
He was a graduate of Tom Bean High School, where he was part of the district champion six-man football team. Soon after marriage, Roy and his wife, Ann, began working out of the the Farmersville Sweet Shop.
Ann would make the donuts and Roy would distribute them across the county. Roy continued working in the wholesale pastry business while starting a small ranching operation part time.
In 1976, he left the pastry business and started ranching full-time. At the peak of his operation, he had over 3,000 acres under lease and managed over 450 head of cattle. From large lease properties to medians and frontage roads, he maximized his resources to keep his hay and cattle business growing year over year.
Roy, along with Ann, was a member of Tidwell Baptist Church since 1956, where he served as Deacon and Sunday school superintendent for decades.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Annie Jane Lokey Hogge of Greenville; brother, James Hogge of Greenwood, Ark.; sister-in-law, Janelle Hogge of Bonham; brother-in-law, Robert Hill of Fort Smith, Ark.; son, Michael and wife Dorothy Hogge of Greenville and Gary Wayne and wife Becky Hogge of Austin; grandchildren, Linda and husband Matt Uppole of Lewisville, Marianne and husband Joe Neil Henderson of Decatur, Keenan and wife Catherine (Katy) Hogge and Kursten and husband Bob Mitchell of Austin; great-grandchildren, Cody and Clayton Hogge of Austin, Jacob, Elijah and Hailey Madison Mitchell of Austin, Vivienne Ann Hogge of Austin, Michaela and husband Eli Prater, Bailey and husband Taylor Krais, Ryan, Katie Grace and Jess Wayne Henderson; great-great-grandchildren, Jonah Price and MacKinzie McClellan.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., before the service.
