Peggy Travis, 86, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., today, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Gould and Rev. Chris Yost officiating. Burial will be at McWright Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Travis was born March 22, 1931, in Celeste to Malcolm Roscoe Gibson and Vera Mae Gibson. She was the assistant vice president at First Federal Bank and retired from Nations Bank. She enjoyed making fried pies, sharing with everyone, and was involved in the Alzheimer's Unit. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Marty Travis and wife Jenee of Colleyville; daughter Julie Cook and husband Tom of Big Sandy; sister Della Nation of Greenville; grandchildren Robin Weatherly, Jamie Fleetwood, Wesley Burch, Miles Travis and Max Travis; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Sharon Weatherly, infant son Mark Travis, brothers Paul Gibson and Ralph Gibson, and sisters Lois Hicks and Mary Hendricks.
Pallbearers will be Larry Nation, Andy Nation, Wayne Money, Mike Vaughan, Dale Money and Jerry Leinart.
Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
