Mother Lucy Thomas slipped into God's blessed eternity to make her home with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 15, 2017.
She was born Dec. 20, 1927, to the late Willie and Gracie Pondexter in Washington, Ark. She made Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior at an early age. In 1960 God called her into the ministry alongside her husband, the late Bishop Chester Thomas, pastoring churches in Arkansas and Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Chester Thomas; eight brothers; four grandchildren and four sisters.
Mother Thomas leaves to cherish her memories six sons, George Nelson (Shirley), Robert Nelson (Dean), James Nelson (Mary), Oscar Cartwright, Charles Thomas, and Sylvester Thomas; five daughters, Irene Lang, Wanda Jeffery (LaRone), Lillie Booker, Vera Powell (Ricky), and Jackie Henry (Douglas); special grandchildren she raised, Tamaria Nelson, Sherry Goodloe, Roslan Caesar, and Tyshia Thomas; sisters, Charlene Morrison, Catherine Ford, Patsy Peteet, and Rosetta Williams; 65 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-nieces and nephews (all very dear to her heart). She adored her nieces and nephews.
Visitiaon is today, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Love & Integrity Funeral Home and Cremations, 4900 King Street.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church. Burial will be at East Mount Cemetery.
