Mary Frances Murphy, 86, passed away at her home in Wolfe City on June 20, 2017.
She was born March 21, 1931, in Wolfe City to William and Beatrice Payne Murphy. She was a longtime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church She worked as a housekeeper for some of our Wolfe City neighbors for many years. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her family members.
She is survived by four sisters, Vera Ramirez, Willie Armstrong, Wanda Murphy, and Cathy Murphy; four daughters, Shirley Alexander, Vanessa Johnson, Rosemary McFail, and Christy Reed; three sons, Stanley Murphy, Tyrone Williams, and Kelvin Murphy; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Bruce Murphy and Willie Woodberry, two grandchildren; two brothers; and five sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Melva Hill at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at First Baptist Church in Wolfe City with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be after the service at Mt. Carmel West Cemetery in Wolfe City. R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
