Mary's Story

Text size

Mary Ellen Davenport Her beauty, smile, gentleness, dignity, grace, humility, intelligence, helpfulness, compassion, strength, patience, faith, and love will be long remembered by all who knew her.
Mary Ellen dedicated her professional life to nursing and nursing education, having assisted countless RNs to achieve their dreams during her years on the faculty of Baylor University and TWU. She earned a B.S. and M.S. in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and TWU, respectively.
Nothing gave Mary Ellen more joy than spending time with her family and friends. Mary Ellen spent her early years in Braddock, Pa., with parents James L. and Nora Halloran Cloonan, sister Pat, and brothers Jim and Jack. She married Warren Davenport and enjoyed the decades of life adventures they shared, including lakeside vacations, The Elks and Lions Club activities, and a trip to Ireland to trace her heritage.
Left to honor her memory and carry forward her noble graces are sons James Davenport and wife Shawnna and Roy Davenport and wife Susan; daughter Patti Griffith and husband Peter Taurchini; Warren's daughter, Nancy Davenport, and recently "adopted daughter" Judy Kiddoo, both of whom Mary Ellen welcomed into her heart; and grandchildren Christine Griffith, James Griffith (Julie), Amanda Davenport (Joe Duncan), David Bryant (Vanessa), Katie Hill (Jeff), Kenneth Bryant (Mayo), Megan Robinson (George); Rob Davenport (Angelina), Shayna Bryant, Tommy Davenport, many beloved nieces and nephews; and the beautiful families of all.
Visitation was Thursday, 6 -8 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, Denton.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denton. Committal service is at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at DFW National Cemetery.
