Funeral service for Katherine Virginia Waldrop will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, at Emory Baptist Church. Rev. Randy Lowe and Rev. Richard Piles will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Mrs. Waldrop passed away Saturday Feb. 18, 2017, in Dallas, at Baylor Health Care Systems.
Katherine was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Miller Grove to Henry Andrew and Easter Ely Bryant. She passed away on her 87th birthday.
She married Joe Allen Waldrop in Greenville on Nov. 15, 1945. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Emory Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Waldrop of Emory; daughters, Virginia McLeroy of Emory, Donna Dunn (Buddy) of Yantis, Beverly Gaston (Bill) of Point, Rhonda Porter (Wesley) of Brenham and Elizabeth DuCharme (Danny) of Johns Town, Colo.; son, Joe Waldrop II (Dixie) of Boling; sisters, Joy Horrocks of Emory, Evelyn Paddock of Yantis, Shirley Norris (Gerald) of Miller Grove and Helen Barker of Brashear; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Waldrop was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl Bryant and H.D. "Bud" Bryant; and sister, Pat Bennett.
