Rogene Sumrow Andrews, 91, passed away Jan. 24, 2017, at Tender Care of Greenville.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with Rev. John Kay officiating.
Jean was born in 1925, in Merit, to Hubert and Bonnie Sumrow. In 1945, she met her future husband, Leroy Andrews, in Greenville at Palmer's Drug Store. Their first date was to a movie at the Texan Theatre and they were soon married.
A longtime Greenville resident, Jean was her husband's partner at their family's business, Andrews' Service Station, for 37 years. Customers would often find Jean washing car windshields and pumping gas.
Jean was an active member of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church where she made her cathedral cookies for the children and was always helping with church dinners. Jean was one of the first to bring a pie to someone sick or to welcome a new family.
She is survived by her son, Mack and wife Mariann Andrews of Greenville; daughter, Tanya and Paul Tewes of Citrus Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Emily Sundeen and husband Michael of Greenville, Andy Skelton and wife Kristen of Avon, Conn., Julia West and wife Janeve of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Matt Skelton and wife Ashleigh of Temple; great-grandchildren, Matthew Sundeen, Claire Sundeen, Sam Skelton, Maisie Skelton, Ruth West, Riley Skelton and Bryce Skelton; sister, Rodgenell Fee; and brothers, Medford Sumrow and Royce Sumrow.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Huston (Red) Skelton; and brothers, Clois Sumrow and Hubert Harold Sumrow.
