Gerald "Wayne" McCasland, 78, died peacefully in Nocona, Texas, on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017.
Wayne was born at home in the Hendrix Community outside of Caddo Mills, Texas, on Dec. 3, 1938, the son on R.H. "Mac" and Billie McCasland.
The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Greg Horn officiating.
Wayne graduated from Commerce High School. He worked as a civil engineer for the city of Garland, Texas, for more than 30 years. For many years after his retirement, he enjoyed working and living on his farm in Commerce, Texas. Wayne will be remembered by his family and friends as kind, gentle, quiet and genuine.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Kim Miller and husband Jamey of Fort Worth, Texas; his son, Russell McCasland of Nocona; grandchildren Emily Wardlaw and husband Aaron of Fort Worth, Matthew Miller of San Antonio, Texas, and Riley McCasland, Landry McCasland and Brady McCasland of Nocona; his brother, Wesley McCasland of Troupe, Texas; and his sister, Lynda Horn of Fairlie, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.H. "Mac" and Billie McCasland of Commerce.
