Marvin Seelye and Alsace Lorraine (Williams) Gray welcomed their daughter, Bonnie Belle, on Oct. 26, 1939, in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas. Bonnie was raised in Rockdale except for a few months when she and her loving parents lived in Texas City before returning to Rockdale, where she attended school and was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Rockdale High School. During Bonnie's junior year of high school, John William (Bud) Grubbs asked her father for her hand in marriage. With Marvin and Lorraine's blessings Bonnie and Bud were married in Burnett, Texas, on July 3, 1957. Bonnie married the love of her life and also got brothers and sisters via her new in-laws. She was an only child, and Bud the second oldest of nine.
Bonnie and Bud would make Rockdale their home and welcomed their firstborn son, Russell Wayne, on Jan. 22, 1959. Year 1960 would hold a move north to Rockwall for Bonnie and family. On Jan. 23, 1961, Bonnie would deliver their second son, Randall Lee, and just 15 months later her family would be complete with the arrival on April 5, 1962, of their daughter, Brenda Carol. Motherhood was a natural for Bonnie. She truly loved and enjoyed being Mom to the three little ones. Children would hold a special place in her heart throughout her life. Whether it was her many nieces and nephews, children she kept in her home, childcare facility where she worked or in one of the cafeterias she worked in or managed for Rockwall Independent School District (from where she took early retirement), it enabled her to be able to help with the care of her beloved mother upon her sudden change of health.
Grand was added to mother in 1979. She would become "Mimmie" with the arrival of Lee Wayne with John, Audra, Kristan, Tyler and Shelby to follow, showing how Bonnie loved so very, very unconditionally! She would fill their lives with love and joy just as she had done with her three children, the nieces and nephews and all children she was able to reach out to. That "unconditional" was not just for children; it was a thread that would bind many, and it was always sealed with a most beautiful smile and a heart full of love.
Bonnie leaves behind an abundance of love and incredible memories with her husband of 59 years, 10 months and three days, John William "Bud" Grubbs of Rockwall; son Russell Wayne Grubbs and wife Karen of Royse City; son Randall Lee Grubbs of Dallas; daughter Brenda Carol Grubbs of Caddo Mills, Texas; grandsons Lee Wayne Peoples and wife Dawn of Royse City, John Marvin Grubbs of Wylie, Tyler Wayne Grubbs and wife Marisa of Cabot, Ark.; granddaughters Audra Lynn Matthews and husband Daniel of Annieville, Ark., Kristan Grubbs of Wylie, and Shelby Honea and husband Vincent of Plano; great-grandchildren Haley, Zoey, Aryanna, Peyton, Parker, Grayson and Ryland; her brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many loving friends.
Bonnie was preceded into immortality by her mother, Alsace Lorraine (Williams) Gray (4/19/1921-1/20/2011) and her father, Marvin Seelye Gray (10/03/1919 - 8/14/2015).
