William's Story

William Lester Dawson passed away at his home in Caddo Mills on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the age of 79. 
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn (Marquart) Dawson.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Jerry Gail (Payne) of 41 years; one brother, R.D. Dawson (Nita) of Nederland, Texas; one sister, Sally Ryan (Bill) of Spicewood, Texas; two sons, Jay (Gena); Steve (Kimberly) and four grandchildren, Jaycee, Dalton, Jake and Janson Dawson, all of Smithville, Texas; nephews, nieces and his beloved pets who never left his side. 
Bill was born in Houston on August 20, 1937. He graduated from Palestine High School and attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Fightin' Aggie Band. 
Growing up on his parents' dairy farm, Bill took it over in 1975, and ran it for 10 years. In 1986, Bill and Jerry Gail moved to Caddo Mills where he drove a truck cross country for various companies until he retired in 2012. 
Bill enjoyed fishing, playing his trombone, restoring old cars and watching his grandsons' rope calves and steers in rodeos.
The visitation will be Sunday, April 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Funeral services will be Monday, April 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Caddo Mills Cemetery.
