William (Bill) Wilson Baker, 86, of Greenville went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, April 11, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Langley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas, and the Rev. Jerry Speight of Greenville officiating. Visitation is scheduled today, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Bill was born in Clifton Heights, Pa., on Dec. 9, 1930, to Albert Reilly Baker and Elizabeth Gill Baker. He married Jill Quinn on June 7, 1958, at the Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline, Texas. He received his bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas and his master of business Administration Degree from East Texas State University.
He was an engineer at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas, 1958-1961 and then moved to Greenville, Texas, and worked for TEMCO until he retired as director of programs from E-Systems in 1993. After he retired he was president of the E-Systems Retirees Club.
He was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, served on many committees and served as a deacon.
He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis and served on various committees which included leading the music for the club, obtaining programs, and also serving as president.
He traveled to all 50 states and many other countries, and he enjoyed vacations with his family.
He is survived by his wife; sons W. Michael Baker and wife Mary of Austin and Mark Q. Baker and wife April of Rockwall; daughter Julie Tchir and husband Joe of Greenville; grandchildren Melody Boney, Mark 'Quinn' Baker, Madeline Baker, Garrett Baker and Aj'a Baker; a great-grandson, Hayden Boney; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Betty Jane Baker, Albert Byre Baker, and Robert Marshall Baker.
