Violet May Johnson died Sept. 6, 2017 in Greenville, Texas.
She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Feb. 28, 1953, the fifth child born to Earl and Virgie (Harrison) Baker. Violet finished her education at Ottumwa High School. She met and married Michael Watkins in 1974, and they had two daughters together. Following a divorce, Violet moved to Irving, Texas, to be near her girls. After remarrying, she welcomed the birth of a third daughter.
Violet was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed being a homemaker, shopping, listening to the "oldies," and spending time with her family and friends.
Violet will be sadly missed by her daughter, Patricia (Watkins) Hurst of Springtown; her daughter, Desiree (Watkins) Mortenson of Frederick, Md.; and her daughter Holly (Johnson) Bennett of Greenville. She is further survived by her sisters, Minnie, Mary, and Rosa; 10 grand-children; five nieces and nephews; and other friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. at the LDS Church in Greenville, followed by gravesite dedication at Donelton Cemetery in Lone Oak, Texas.
