Ted Jara, 55, of Garland, Texas, passed away Nov. 6, 2017.
Born June 6, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, to Virginia and Refugio Jara, Ted always insisted that when he passed, it wasn't to be a somber affair. He was a man who could be found at the tennis courts; fishing; watching his daughter, Tess, play softball; watching the Cowboys with his son, Richard; enjoying any show about Big Foot; or playing Yap and cards with his brother-in-law, Michael. He felt that life was a gift and would never refuse an offer to go on a road trip to South Texas, Kansas to visit his brother, Gilbert, or to just jump in the car and see where the road took him. His favorite road-trip partner was his mother-in-law, Sandra; and their trips were something that he absolutely loved. Even though the illness slowed him down, he absolutely never refused to let it define him. Until the very end, he was a true warrior, fighting until his very last breath.
Ted is survived by his wife, Karen; three kids, Richard, Cathryn, and Tessa; brothers Gilbert, Freddy, and Michael; sisters Jackie, Esther and MaryAnne; sister-in-law Mary; mother-in-law Sandra; and more friends than can be counted.
His graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at Vansickle Cemetery in Caddo Mills.
