Sharla Lynn Petty passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the age of 59.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 16, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Johnny Hailes officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation is Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sharla was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Dec. 3, 1957, to Thurmon and Patsy Helton. She married Jay Petty on Aug. 24, 1984, in Greenville, Texas. She was employed by L-3 in Greenville.
Sharla is survived by her mother, Patsy Helton of Greenville; mother-in-law Marva Petty of Greenville; her husband of 33 years, Jay Petty of Greenville; her son, Lynden Petty and wife Victoria of Rockwall and their children, Madelyn and Finnley; son Aaron Petty of Greenville; brother and sister-in-law Brad and Shirley Helton of Rockwall; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Kay Helton of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews who love her dearly.
Sharla was a loving wife and mother who always cared more about the people in her life than herself. She will be missed more than words can describe.
Sharla was preceded in death by her father, Thurmon Helton, and father-in-law James Petty.
Pallbearers will be Lynden Petty, Aaron Petty, Jason Helton, Chase LaPenna, Joey Hubble and Cole Helton. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Sanders, Bob Maddux and Tom Neyra.
