Russell R. Chambers, 91, of Greenville, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at his home. A celebration will be held, Saturday, Nov. 25, at Landon's from 3 to 5 p.m.
Arrangements were made through Coker-Matews Funeral Home.
Mr. Chambers was born in Flint, Mich., on Dec. 4, 1925. He was the son of Russell Chambers and Madeline Opp Chambers. He married the love of his life, Theresa Henderson, on April 3, 1954, in Detroit, Mich. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Chambers came to Texas in 1955 where he worked at Temco. He transferred to Greenville from Grand Prairie, retiring from E-Systems in 1983, where he was an aeronautical engineer. He then started his own company, Alpha Aviation Supply Company, which he operated until bad health forced him to retire. He was on the Majors Field Airport Board when the terminal was built.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Chambers of Greenville; sons Richard Chambers and wife Dianne of Greenville and Ken Chambers of Austin; daughters Laurie Wineinger and husband Monty and Karen Isham and husband Brian, all of Greenville; grandchildren Matthew and Cynthia Wineinger, Chris Harris, Justin Wineinger, Josh Isham, Kacie Chambers, Amanda and Justin Day, Megan and David Frost, Kristin and John Dobmeyer, Ethan Isham, Alex Reece and Griffin Chambers; and great-grandchildren Isabela Wineinger, Kenley Dobmeyer, Adalyn Day, Santiago Wineinger and Elijah Isham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Cause for Paws, 4400 Moulton St., Suite 1, Greenville, Texas 75401.
