Ona Lee Hawthorne, 84, of DeSoto, Texas, passed away Feb. 12, 2017.
Ona Lee Lewis Hawthorne was born July 31, 1932, the daughter of Hubert F. Lewis and Leona Ingram Lewis. She married Thomas J. Hawthorne on April 23, 1955, in Durant, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Janice Anne Hawthorne, who died in infancy; half brother John T. Lewis; and half sisters Inez Nichols, Margaret Stephens and Helen Pickard.
Ona Lee is survived by her husband, Thomas Junior Hawthorne; sons and daughters-in-law Terry and Anita Hawthorne of Midlothian, Texas, Garry and Penny Hawthorne of Lynden, Wash., Tommy and Lisa Hawthorne of Melissa, Texas and Bobby and Shelly Hawthorne of Glenn Heights, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy Lee and Mindy Hawthorne of Pottsboro, Texas, Destry Kane and Jamie Hawthorne of Durant, Okla., Dustin Corey and Brandy Hawthorne of Lynden, Wash., Candace Megan and Dylan Thompson of Lynden, Wash, Christopher Blake Hawthorne of Rowlett, Texas, Corbin Bryson Hawthorne and fiance Keri of Phoenix, Ariz., Courtney Brooke and Chris Bennett of Forney, Texas, and Ashlee Amanda and Chez Sherry of Haslet, Texas, Sarah Hall of Melissa, Texas; great-grandchildren Abigail Lee Hawthorne and Erin Elaine Hawthorne of Pottsboro, Texas, Brooklyn Taylor Hawthorne of Lynden, Wash., Audrey Harlyn Bennett of Forney, Texas, Shelby Ryan Hawthorne, Blake Wyatt Hawthorne and Nolan Douglas Hawthorne of Lynden, Wash., Caden Riley Hawthorne of Durant, Okla., and Ryker Ray Sherry and Hudson Gage Sherry of Haslett, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Her funeral service will be in the chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, with Pastor B.C. Ross and Rev. Leonard Harris, officiating. Interment will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials or donations be made in Mrs. Hawthorne's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Dallas Chapter, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750, Dallas, TX 75204-9627.
