Nora Joann Giles Korbelic, 80, of Wylie passed away Jan. 25, 2017, at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Home at White Rock Lake. A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with interment at Forest Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Visitation with family will be at 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Joann was born in Colbert, Okla., on Sept. 6, 1936, to Angus McCaleb and Lona McCoy Giles. She married William Joseph Korbelic on Jan. 22, 1955, in Denison.
She was an office clerk at the Greenville Hospital for eight years and worked as a farmer, winemaker, fixer-of-all-problems, homemaker and feeder of the world's children.
Joann was a longtime member of St. William's Catholic Church and in 2000 moved to Wylie where she attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies Chapter Tiara Toatin' Tootsie's.
Joann is survived by her children, Greg Korbelic of Paris, Texas, and Patty Korbelic-Williams of Mesquite; a sister, Donella Baecht; grandchildren Daniel Korbelic, Chris Korbelic, Neill Korbelic and wife Connie, Sarah Korbelic-Williams and Greg Williams; great-grandchildren Dylan and Jordyn Williams; daughters-in-law Linda Perez and Jill Lester; sister-in-law Maryann StLuka and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son John; brothers A. M., Oscar and Bill Williams; sisters Maggie, Fern, Dolly, Lily, Lorene, Francis, and Louis and their spouses.
