Mollie Burden Sikes, 78, of Greenville passed away June 13, 2017 at Legend Healthcare in Greenville. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Pastor Justin Milton and Chaplain Samuel Glenn officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 15, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sikes was born in Whitewright, Texas, on Dec. 31, 1938, to J.B. Burden and Roxie Nadine Young. She married Rev. Curtis L. Sikes in Winnsboro, Texas, on Aug. 19, 1983. She graduated from Pecan Gap High School in 1957, where she played basketball, scoring 51 points in one game. She was an avid sports fan throughout life, always watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. She retired as a seamstress. She was a retired Sunday school teacher in Winnsboro prior to moving to Greenville. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School class at Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Fedrick Petty and husband James of Cumby, Karen Fedrick Milton of Greenville, and Angela Fedrick Vaughan and husband Chris of Farmersville; brother Ed Burden and wife Paulette of Rusk ; sister Lue Lane of Caddo Mills; grandchildren Ricky Belcher, Tiffany Keels, Lisa Burgess, Michelle Barnhardt, Carrie Petty, John Michael Milton, Justin Milton, Malia Milton Bakkum, Kara Milton, Stacy Swyers Sanchez, Stephanie Swyers Tant, Caleb Vaughan and Ethan Vaughan; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Curtis L. Sikes; parents; a daughter, Gail Fedrick Swyers; brothers J.B. Burden Jr. and Billy Wayne Burden; sister Ruby Burden Price; and one grandson, Billy Dale Keels.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Belcher, John Michael Milton, Caleb Vaughan, Ethan Vaughan, Luis Sanchez and Brian Bakkum.
