Melvin's Story

Melvin "Mo" Norfleet, born Dec. 2, 1929, in Greenville, Texas, to parents O.R. and Addie Chambliss Norfleet, passed away in Mt. Pleasant on Aug. 16, 2017.
Mr. Norfleet was a member of North Jefferson Church of Christ. He worked at LTU Aero Systems in Greenville for 23 years and owned and operated Titus Pump Service from 1971 to 2007. He also raised Maine Anjou cattle; had International Grand Champion Bull 1984 Denver, Colo., and National Champion Female 1985 Louisville, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Burns Norfleet of Mt. Pleasant; sons Monty Norfleet and wife Susan, Michael Norfleet and wife Tona, all of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Barbara Norfleet Shook of Royse City; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Bradford and J.T. Norfleet; and three sisters, Mae Norfleet, Pearl Head and Bernice Jones.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017. Burial will be at Nevills Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Kris Groda, Bro. J.J. Hendricks, Bro. Donnie Duncan and Bro. Weldon Miller officiating.
