Mary's Story

Mary Nesbitt Davis, 100, a resident of Royse City,, for most of her life, passed away March 9, 2017.
She was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Farmers-ville, to Robert Allen Nesbitt Sr. and Robbie (Rike) Nesbitt. Mary grew up in Leonard, and graduated from Leonard High School. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, graduated from Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant, Okla., and received her master's from East Texas State University in Commerce.
Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Royse City. She was very active in the church where she taught the same Sunday school class for 65-plus years.
A member of the Rockwall Area Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Gamma Kappa Education Society, Mary taught in the Royse City school district for more than 35 years. She loved sewing, working crossword puzzles and Bible study for lesson preparation.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Sandi Donaho and husband Rick, Robbie Howell and husband Gene and Ann Davis, all of Royse City; grandson Scott Donaho and wife Sharlain of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Devin, Julia and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Davis; brother Robert A. Nesbitt Jr. and sister Nell Upton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at First Baptist Church, 900 Pullen Street, in Royse City (75189) with Pastor Rick Donaho and Pastor Scott Donaho officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m.
