Marilyn Schubert Groves passed away peacefully after an 11-month battle with cancer on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Heritage Gardens Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Carrollton, Texas.
She graduated from Spearman High School. Marilyn married Fred Groves Dec. 23,1963, and they settled in Spearman. In 1989, they moved to Greenville, Texas, where Fred took a job at E-Systems. Marilyn held positions in office management.
Marilyn enjoyed playing piano and organ. She played organ for the First Christian Church in Spearman for 34 years and for church services in Greenville for 17 years. She also played piano part-time for a local restaurant by request.
Marilyn is survived by her former husband, Fred Groves of Greenville; her sons, Wayne Groves and wife Shelly of Amarillo, Texas; Brandon Groves-McReynolds and husband James of Highland, Ill.; her daughter, Shannon Welch and husband Darren of Lubbock, Texas; her brother, Burton Schubert of Spearman. Texas; her sisters-in-law, Patty Meyers of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Anita Ransom and husband CJ of Colleyville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fendorf and Maylynn; her brother, William Schubert; her daughter-in-law, Beth Groves; and her sisters-in-law, Wanda Schubert and Timmie Groves.
The family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
