Kathy and Kent, I was so very sad to hear of your mother's passing. I loved you all and remember so well when I used to babysit the two of you. I loved your mother because she was SUCH a special person and I know you will miss her greatly.

As my third grade teacher, I knew her as Mrs. Fulks. She was always such a sweet and classy lady! She left me with many fond memories of my days at Crockett School. What a joy it was to bump into her around town on rare occasions years later. So sorry to hear of her passing.

So very sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I have a lot of memories of her from the old neighborhood and working with her at Crockett School. My thoughts and prayers are with Kent, Kathy and their families during this time of grieving.

I knew LaVerne through DAR and as a neighbor on Webb St. She was a precious lady who served DAR for many years and made a significant contribution to the chapter and society. We were so saddened when she was unable to attend meetings and have thought of her often. So many members attribute their membership to help as Regent or Registrar. We pray God's comfort for her family.

i am so sorry for the loss of such a sweet, kind, lady. Mrs Martin was my 3rd grade teacher at Crocket Elementary. God must have known just what I needed that school year. I literally hated school until that year. I will never forget seeing Mrs. Fulks with Mr. Martin at a GHS Football game one Friday night, and then just how happy I felt for her the Monday morning that she had written “Mrs. Martin” on the chalkboard!
The last time I spoke to her I was working at First Modern Savings and Loan in Greenville. She had retired and said that teaching was just not the same as it used to be.
I will be praying for your family as you celebrate the life of such a good and faithful se
...rvant. Mrs. Martin was the perfect example of what I always wanted to be. She was just as beautiful on the inside as the out!
God be with you all, and may she rest in peace.

Greetings! I was sorry to hear of Laverne's passing. I had her for 3rd grade, I believe, around 1965. Her last name was Fulks then. I thought she was the most beautiful, kind woman I had ever met! I think I actually had a girl crush on her to be honest. She was everything I wanted to be. I made sure I was teacher's pet that year so I could do her bidding. It was a joy : ). Later, my grandfather, Raymond Crockett, said his best friend Wesley Martin was going to marry her. My grand dad was thrilled for him! Also my oldest sister, Steffani Sampson Powell, was good friends with her son Kent. Lots of connections with the loveliest of ladies.
