Lavada Shelton, 85, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, formerly of Celeste, Texas, died Friday, June 30, 2017 in Sulphur Springs. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2017 at Celeste Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Duncan Graham will officiate. There will be no formal visitation scheduled, however, friends may come by the funeral home to sign the register book and pay their respects.
Mrs. Shelton was born in Jewett, Texas on May 26, 1932. She was the daughter of Roy Vaughn and Gladys Black Vaughn. She married Loyd Shelton in 1950 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Loyd Shelton and wife Delores of Greenville and Randall Shelton and wife Sally of Buffalo; daughter Renee Armstrong and husband Steve of Sulphur Springs; sisters Louise Black and husband Purvis of Fairfield and Odell Allbritton of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her loving care provider and best friend, Anita Clayton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Shelton; son Troy Shelton; grandson Brady Shelton and daughter-in-law Dawn Shelton.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Brad Armstrong, Wes Armstrong, Toby Armstrong, Travis Shelton, Layne Shelton, Tyler Armstrong, Colten Armstrong and Jake Armstrong.
