Thelma Joyce Sprinkle, 90, of Greenville, passed away Nov. 16, 2017. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Mr. Randy Daw and Mr. Frank Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sprinkle was born in Clinton, Texas, on Dec. 11, 1926, to Eddie Ayers and Eunice Chapman Ayers. She graduated high school with honors and managed her parent's grocery store.
She and her mother supported the World War II effort by working in a munitions factory in Grand Prairie. Post-war, she lived her dream by working at Neiman Marcus. A love of beauty and fashion stayed with her for her entire life.
She left Neiman Marcus to marry Dr. Elbert Udell Sprinkle on Jan. 7, 1950, in Greenville and thereafter devoted her life to her family and Johnson Street Church of Christ, known now as Creekside Church of Christ.
She also enjoyed flower arranging, travel, bridge and spending time with her sister and cousins.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Sprinkle of Marble Falls, Linda Acker and husband Lynn of Tyler and Gail Sprinkle of Greenville; sister Dorothy Meeks; sister-in-law Peggy Johnston; grandchildren Blake Acker, Stevie and Jordan Byrd; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2005, and brother Kenneth Ayers.
Pallbearers will be Randall White, Randy Meeks, Danny Ayers, Eddie Ayers, Barry Ayers and Blake Acker.
The family extends warm appreciation to Dr. Rick Selvaggi, staff at Briarcliff, staff at Colonial Lodge, Montez Prince and Creekside Church of Christ.
