Joy Lynn Welborn, 84, of Melissa, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 11, 2018, at her home after a long illness.
She was born March 18, 1933, in Merit, Texas, to Lucille Frazier and Lee Roy Brazil. She married W.O. Welborn Jr. on June 5, 1955; they made their home in Merit, where they raised five children.
Joy was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, W.O.; her parents; three brothers, Clif Sumrow, J.L. Brazil and Jerry Brazil; and three sisters, Claudia Seigler, Oleta Hoffman and Doris Clay.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Steve and wife Nita of Merit, Kevin and wife Paula of McKinney and Nicky and wife Lee Ann of Wylie; two daughters, Robin and husband Allen Love of Melissa and Ronda Groves and fiancé Danny Cornehl of Sachse; and her greatest blessings, 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Joy was a loving wife, devoted mother, and affectionate grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a steadfast and devoted Christian and loved to share her faith. Her wisdom and commitment to her family and friends will be missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Higher Trails Cowboy Church, 5544 FM 903, Celeste, on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to any Christian ministry. She believed in supporting many ministries throughout her life and would be honored if others did the same.
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
