Jimmie Dale Head, 89, of Greenville passed away Nov. 13, 2017, in the Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Litchfield and Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Visitation will be at the church at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Jimmie was born July 6, 1928, in Hunt County, Texas, to Grady Head and Faye Stafford Head. He married Billie June Wall on Sept. 9, 1950, in Greenville. He worked as an aircraft worker with Raytheon until his retirement in 1995 and was also a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
Jimmie served as a deacon and 3-year-old teacher in the Baptist church for many years. He loved his family, friends and the farm.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Billie June Head; sons Jerry Head of Greenville, Gary Head of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren David Head, Michelle Gurtin and husband Steve, and Drew Holloway; great-grandchild Brendan Gurtin; and extended family Phillip and Gail May, David and Karen Bench and Kate Head.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Craig Chelberg, David Garcia, Fred Hite, Jimmy Jenkins, Amos Lowry, Charlie Moore, Harold Moore and Win Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Adams, Hector Lara, Lowell Lawson, Robert Smith, Ralph Harper, and Boyd Ferguson.
