James Edward (Jimmy) Sorrells, 82, of Greenville passed away Nov. 04, 2017. His service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10, at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the cemetery. Lynch Funeral Service will handle the service.
Jimmy was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on Oct. 16, 1935. The family moved to Greenville, Texas, in 1937. He graduated in the GHS Class of 1954 and attended Mortuary School in Dallas. His family operated Sorrells & Sons Funeral Home in Greenville until 1980. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Bearden Sorrells; their six children, Ronna Guerra, Kellie Hesseltine and husband Jim, Jay Sorrells and wife Amy, Chris Morrison, Kelly Baucom and husband Charlie, and Andy Morrison and wife Cherlyn; grandchildren Hillary Forsman, Andrew Hester, Blake Hesseltine, Kendal Hesseltine, Trey Sorrells, Ryleigh Sorrells, Krista Morrison, Maci Hyde, Kaylie and Austin Morrison; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emmitt and Isabella Sorrells; brother E.B. Sorrells Jr.; and grandchildren Heather Hester and Brandon Morrison.
Jimmy enjoyed golf and playing cards. He was loved by family and many friends. He lived a full and happy life, and we are honored to celebrate the dash between the day he entered this world and the day he left. His wish for everyone would be to enjoy every day God gives you on this earth and to be Happy!
Pallbearers will be Derrell Holloway, Perry Goen, Andrew Hester, Blake Hesseltine, Trey Sorrells, and Jim Hesseltine
