Gerald Ben Saye, 86, of Celeste, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Texoma Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Harnie Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Celeste Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Saye was born in Celeste, Texas, on Nov. 19, 1930, to Cecil Ben Saye and Ethel West. He was a mechanic for many years and retired from Mitchell Vending. His beloved hobby was racing cars and was of the Church of Christ faith.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Gilliam and husband Tim of Celeste, Susanne Cranfill and husband Wes of Paradise, and Cathy Godwin and husband Jared of Bartlesville, Okla.; grandchildren Dob Gilliam, Brandon Gilliam, Jay Cranfill, Shanda Madrid, Drew Godwin and Abby Hughes; great-grandchildren Amanda Barrington, Hannah Madrid, Evan Madrid, Reave Cranfill, Jace Cranfill, Addison Lopez, Trent Godwin and Averie Hughes; along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Sonny Saye.
Pallbearers will be Dob Gilliam, Brandon Gilliam, Jay Cranfill, Jack Valentine, Matthew Hise and Scott Hicks.
