Gerald Ray Cook was born Jan. 24, 1933, and passed on Aug. 22, 2017, at the age of 84.
Gerald was born to the parents of Sam and Edna Cook. He married Georgia Mae Hass on Dec. 22, 1951, until her passing in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army and settled early in life in Hunt County and worked for the city of Greenville as a lineman, retiring from them after 25 years.
Gerald is survived by sons Michael and Almina Cook and Thomas Lee and Candy Cook; grandchildren Joe and Misty Cook, Lori and Danny Schwartz, Leesa and Nick Lane and Johnathan Cook; great-grandchildren Kendall and Maci Cook, Joseph Cook, Jamie Welborn, Justin Wooten, Jessica Wooten, Lexi Livezey, Jayden Cook, Seth Schwartz, great-great-grandchildren Kinlee Cook and Ruger Cook; sister Ann and Jack Hicks; and several nieces and nephews. Gerald married Maggie Spruill and was married to her until her passing and years later married Barbara Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and children's mother, Georgia Mae Cook; both his parents; his second wife, Maggie Spruill; and brother Garvis Cook.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hurst's Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Cowboy Church in Merit, Texas. Rev. Randy Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville, Texas.
