Joy Frances Flowers, 90, of Greenville passed away Jan. 23, 2018, at Briarcliff Health Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
\Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 1, 1927, in Nevada, Texas, Joy was the daughter of Robert Mize and Sarah Louella (Morris) Mize. On Jan. 20, 1945, she married Charles Flowers in Greenville. She was a housewife and a member of the House of Prayer. She was a faithful church pianist for 58 years, and she also served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a wonderful grandmother as well as a great cook and artist.
She is survived by her husband, Charles of Greenville; son-in-law Tom Yager; daughters Darlene Tarrant and husband Jimmy of Greenville and Paula Horton and husband Jack of Greenville; twin sister Joyce Lou Douglas of Garland; and grandchildren Jeff Tarrant and wife Joanna, Cindy Tarrant, Stacey Whaley and husband Bert, Scott Yager and wife Carrie, Chris Yager and wife Tiffany, Connor Horton, Cody Horton and Caleb Horton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Charlene Yager; sisters Hassie Moore, Tulla Cantrell, and Beulah Gohn; and brothers Harvey, Donald and Willard Mize.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jeff Tarrant, Scott Yager, Chris Yager, Connor Horton, Cody Horton, and Caleb Horton.
