Etta's Story

Etta Dell Harvey, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, in Greenville.
She was born March 22, 1926, near Peniel, Texas, and the third child of Monte Lee and Gracie Pearl Turner Wright. Mrs. Harvey was an income tax preparer and an audit control clerk for Sears. She was also an original "Rosie the Riveter," having worked in a defense plant in Los Angeles during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Powell Harvey, sister Cloe Talley and husband John, brother William Harry Wright, brother Joe Wright and wife Peggy, brothers-in-law Rex Baker and J.D. Smith and sister-in-law Wilma Ward and husband Raymond.
Left to cherish her memory are son Billy Dale Harvey and wife Lois of Biloxi, Miss.; grandson Brad Harvey of Fayetteville, Ark.; grandson Ryan Harvey and wife Renee of Blue Ridge, Texas; sister Murl Baker of Mount Pleasant, Texas; sisters-in-law Marcella Wright of Greenville and Jean Smith of Mount Pleasant; great-grandchildren Grace, Lilly, Rose, Evangeline and Cash Harvey; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sisters of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and swim buddies of the YMCA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, at Westview United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Brad Harvey, Ryan Harvey, John Paul Dowell, Kevin Baker, Grace Harvey, Lilly Harvey and Rose Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Hardy Parrott, Dr. Yong Chung, James Roddy, Coburn Moser and Mike Mason.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice or Westview United Methodist Church, 6407 Sayle St., Greenville, Texas 75402.
