Elijah "E.C." Renshaw of Terrell, Texas, passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2017, at the age of 89.
E.C. was born to the late Joe and Kelso Renshaw on June 13, 1927, in Quinlan, Texas. He was the youngest of their three sons. After graduating from Quinlan High School, he attended North Texas Agricultural College (now U.T. Arlington), briefly before enlisting in the Army. He graduated from East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce and subsequently earned his master's degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
E.C. married Marie Cheshire of Joaquin, Texas, on July 4, 1950, in Quinlan. During his career he worked for various defense contractors and architectural product firms. He and Marie moved their young family to Terrell in 1967. They are members of First United Methodist Church in Terrell. E.C. was a Master Mason in good standing of the Trestle Board Masonic Lodge 534 in Quinlan, and had been a Mason for 68 years.
E.C. was the "strong, silent" sort of man, soft spoken, but with a wry sense of humor. He was hard working and dependable, and his family always came first. He retired twice, the last time at the age of 84! He loved fishing, spending time at the family ranch and playing with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joe Renshaw and Henry Renshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; his son, David Renshaw and wife Kristi Renshaw of Greenville, Texas, and their children, Justin, Luke and DeeDee; his daughter, Tamara Vincent and husband Lance Vincent of Tyler, Texas, and their son, Joshua Vincent and wife Lauren; and their daughter, Haley Vincent, all of Austin, Texas; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home in Terrell.
