Clyde's Story

Clyde Dell Anderson Jr. died May 7, 2017. He was born Jan. 24, 1959, to the parentage of Clyde Dell Anderson Sr. and Lillie Mae Cozine Anderson in Greenville. He accepted Christ early in life at Clark Street Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Later in life, he joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Clyde graduated from Greenville High School in 1977 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed at the Alameda, Calif., Naval Airbase until he was relieved of service with an honorable discharge in 1983.
Clyde was kind, caring, prayerful and loved the Lord. He took pleasure in helping others. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of many including carpentry, home renovations and playing dominos.
Those left to cherish Clyde's memory include his wife, Rosalin Rogers Anderson of Greenville; mother, Lillie Mae Anderson of Greenville; daughters Jasmine Anderson of Oakland, Calif., and Shyniece Stovall (Rashad) of Greenville, S.C.; sons, Dontay Anderson (Deltrina) of Oakland, Calif., and Clyde Dell Anderson III; grandchildren, Jayvon Alexander and Jayson Alexander of Oakland, Calif.; sisters, Jackie Cozine Wilson, Claudia Wright (Howard) of Greenville and Donna Henderson (Milton) of Dallas; brothers, Douglas Anderson of Sulphur Springs, Mickey Anderson (Joyce) of Stockton, Calif., Johnny Anderson, Mark Anderson, Richard Anderson, Jeffery Anderson, Jerry Anderson and Tyrone Anderson, all of Greenville; step-daughter, Kristin Dukes (Modibo) of Boston, Mass.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., today, at 1706 Walnut Street, Greenville.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 13, at Bethel AME Church. Burial to follow at Grundy Memorial Park.
