Burley E. Denton Jr., 81, of Dallas, Texas, passed away as a result of Alzheimer's disease.
Burley was born in Campbell, Texas, on Jan. 8, 1936.
Burley was preceded in death by his parents, Burley E. Denton Sr. and Mattie Lou Jared Denton.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Denton; son Lance Denton (Glenda) of Rockwall, Texas; daughter Stacy Rutstein (Barry) of California; three grandsons; two great-grandsons; his sister, Lou Sartoris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burley was active in the Tejas Social Club and the Masonic Lodge. He graduated from East Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's degree in education. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Burley was also an avid fisherman.
He worked for the State of Texas Rehabilitation Commission as a rehabilitation counselor. In this capacity, he worked with youths and adults dealing with mental handicaps to find job placement.
A Celebration of Life for Burley E. Denton Jr. will be held at the Texas A&M University-Commerce Alumni Center, 1706 Stonewall St., Commerce, Texas 75428 on Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m.
Sparkman Crane Funeral Home of Dallas is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials in Burley's honor may be made to the SPCA.
