Bonnie Ethridge, 85, of Dallas, Texas, died following a short illness on March 11, 2017, in Dallas, Texas.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Bobby Ethridge of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law Becky and Ray Brown of Dallas; grandson Bentley Brown of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Aaron and Melinda Brown of Sterling, Kan.; a niece, Jean Magness of Marble Falls, Texas; great-nephew and wife Brian and Ginger Jones of Marble Falls, Texas; and great-great-nephews Jordan, Easton and Garen Jones of Marble Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ethridge of Dallas; sister Ann Bowen of Greenville; and brother T.R. Garber Jr. of Greenville.
Bonnie was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Greenville, to parents T.R. and Elizabeth Moore Garber. She graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from East Texas State Teachers College and moved to Dallas to accept a position as a teacher in the Dallas Independent School District where she served for 34 years. Teaching was her passion and she loved her students and fellow teachers. Bonnie was a great wife and a loving mother. She married Robert Ethridge in 1960 and the couple had two children together. Bonnie was actively involved in her children's lives, serving in various roles in PTA and Band Boosters. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher society and a member of First Baptist Church Dallas.
Visitation is scheduled Friday, March 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas.
The funeral service for Bonnie will be Saturday, March 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with burial and reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bonnie's life.
