Betty Lou Evans, 89, of Greenville, passed away on Oct. 6, 2017, at Legend Healthcare in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct 9, 2017, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Kelly Carr officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Fort Worth to Lane Oakley and Oma Lee Harris. She owned Sabine Tackle Supply and was a member of Bullcreek Cowboy Church.
She was a big fisherman and enjoyed family dinners and activities.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Evans and wife Julie; daughter Janice Cowley and husband Jack; grandchildren Justin McCord and wife Marla, Matthew Prince and wife Jamie, Candace Jimenez and husband Martin, Christal Cowley, Joshua Evans, Jessica Evans and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters Jackie Lee Prince and Jo Lynn McCord; granddaughter Rene' McCord Stovall; brother Kenneth Oakley and ex-husband Jack Evans.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Evans, Justin McCord, Matthew Prince, Martin Jimenez, Bryton Jimenez and Clint Cowley. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hanson, Chad Stroud and Jeff Gore.
In Betty's words: "I am especially proud of my family and my friends, the people in my life that made it beautiful. My God is a loving Father with mercy and grace for me. I am a member of His family because His son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins. His blessings for me are countless."
