Sarah "Felice" Eldridge passed away at Legends on Thursday evening, March 23, 2017, at the age of 93.
She was born May 26, 1923, in Clinton, Texas, to Robert and Ethelynne Carter Philpot. She attended schools in Merrick, Texas, and high school at Floyd and was an outstanding star player on the girls basketball team. Felice married Odele Eldridge on Feb. 14, 1942, just before he left to serve in WWII, and worked two jobs and at night as a ticket taker at the Texan Theater, until his return.
She was known for her many talents, helping at the family grocery store, Eldridge Grocery. She was a licensed beautician and cosmetologist working at the Town House Beauty Salon and various other salons. She also worked at Merle Norman Cosmetics and other retail stores in Greenville. She also owned the Mollie Lynne Antique Shop in her home and worked many estate sales with her vast knowledge of antiques.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville; and later in life she was known as "The Prayer Warrior," as she was still praying for others from her wheelchair. She will always be remembered for her high spirit and never giving up.
Mrs. Eldridge loved her Lord and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol Krodle and husband Phil; granddaughter Lisa Sherer and husband Rick; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Maylene Eldridge; her best friend at Legends, Peggy; and so many special nurses and aides whom she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Kevin Sherer, brother Bob Philpot, and sister Sybile Conway.
A graveside service will be held at Memoryland Memorial Park on Monday, March 27, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Royce Litchfield and Bro Norman Carson officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, at Peters Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.
