'Bill''s Story

William "Bill" Phillip Collins, a four-year resident of Heath, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 82 on Aug. 11, 2017.
He was born May 2, 1935, in Tulare, Calif., to James Jackson Collins and Anna Walker Collins. Bill grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from Paschal High School in 1953. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering and later a Master's in Business Administration from Texas A&-Commerce.
Bill served in the Texas National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves from December 1952, until June 1964.
He loved his work as an FAA DER and consultant in Aircraft Engineering Systems & Equipment Design. Bill worked for Boeing of Seattle, E-Systems, Raytheon and L3 Communications of Greenville, Texas. He retired from L3 Communications in May 2011 and continued his life's work running his consulting company, WPC Engineering Co. Bill was an active member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Experimental Aircraft Association and the NRA. Bill was very accomplished and respected in his profession and loved his work in the aircraft industry.
His proudest accomplishment was his family whom he loved, supported and cherished every minute of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Collins; children Lisa Collins Evans (Michael) of Sarasota, Fla., Jim Mark Collins (Lisa) of Tucson, Ariz., and Tori Collins Bruce (Donald) of Plano, Texas; grandchildren Ross Collins (Kelsey) of Seattle, Wash., Jenna Hennessy (Sutton) of Denton, Texas, Carter Collins of Hawaii, Tyler Bruce of Plano, and Hunter Bruce of Plano; great-grandchildren Harper, Glynn and Caidden; brother John Collins and wife Beth of Fort Worth; longtime friend Joe Cole Jr. of Seguin, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Collins.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 2, 2017, at Trinity by the Lake Episcopal Church located at 1524 Smirl Drive, Heath, TX 75032. Inurnment and reception will follow.
As an alternative to flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Trinity by the Lake Episcopal Church of Heath, where Bill was a very faithful member. Memorials to the church may be mailed to the address above or made online at www.htbtl.org.
